Welcome to Physical Education at Morningside Elementary
Message from Coach Corso:
I love coming to school each and everyday to have fun and to teach students how to stay strong and healthy while developing excellent life habits.
Here are some things I want you to do:
- ask questions about what you are learning
- if you don't understand something, please raise your hand and let us know
- do your best while working toward improving in areas that are challenging for you
- share your own ideas in class
- if you don't understand instructions, please raise your hand and let us know
- treat fellow students and your teachers with respect
Here are some things I will do for you:
- give you different types of activities to make class more interesting
- explain something in a different way if you don't understand it
- help you understand what you still need to work on at school
- show you how you can use what you learn in school at home and in our community
- make sure that the work we give you is at the right level for you
- understand and communicate with you where you need to improve in school
- have you work in class with different groups of people
- give you as much individual help in class as you need
- care about your learning
- work with all students to behave well in class
- explain instructions if you don't understand them
- provide a positive learning environment in which you feel comfortable asking questions
- treat all students with respect
- provide work in class that challenges you
- encourage you to do work, even when it is hard for you
- will not let you give up when the work gets hard
- will let you know that it's okay to make mistakes, as long as you do your best (mistakes are part of any successful learning process)
- encourage you to try new things, even when they are hard for you
In Physical Education you will learn to:
- demonstrate competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of activities
- demonstrate understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as you apply them to the learning and performance of physical activities
- to participate regularly in physical activity
- achieve and maintain a health enhancing level of physical fitness
- exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings
- value physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction
